Overview – Last year it was a tremendous disappointment that our community was not able to host our Annual Panegyri. This year we knew that it was still too soon to host an in person event, however we knew that we had to do something. This year we will be hosting a drive thru event, Panegyri To-Go, offering a selection of your favorite food items and pastries. We will only be taking online orders, so please place yours early. Ordering online begins on June 1, 2021.
Food Menu: Gyro is the most popular single food item at our festival. It’s a sandwich of folded pita bread filled with Gyro meat (a pressed combination of ~80% beef, ~20% lamb), tomato, onion and tzatziki (a yogurt based, cucumber sauce). Gyro will be offered ala carte and as a dinner including rice, green beans and a Greek salad.
Pastitsio is a traditional noodle and meat casserole (similar to lasagna in appearance) topped with a béchamel sauce. Pastitsio will be offered ala carte and as a dinner.
Greek Pizza – Seasoned olive oil with feta cheese, sliced tomatoes, fresh spinach and a mozzarella/provolone blend. Additionally, Gyro meat can be added.
Side Dishes available will be tiropitas (cheese pastry pies), spanakopitas (spinach and cheese pastry pies), and Greek salad (with feta and Kalamata olives).
Pastries: Our pastry offering will be Baklava, Kourambiethes (powdered sugar cookies), Pasta-Flora (apricot or berry on shortbread crust), Melomakarona (honey, walnut cookies) and Koulourakia (the traditional Greek butter cookie).
Loosely translated, Panegyri means “festival for everyone”. Our hope is that 2021 will be a transitional year, and future Panegyri festivals will offer the food, entertainment and culture that we have been able to provide in the past. For now, join us this June as we offer the best food of the Panegyri.
